The Mizzou athletic department officially announced earlier Friday morning that the Tigers have agreed to a home-and-home series with the West Virginia Mountaineers.

“We are very pleased to add a team the caliber of West Virginia to our schedule,” Bryan Maggard, Missouri’s Executive Associate Athletic director, said in the school’s release. “We feel like this is a game that is appealing to the fan bases of both programs and it helps us both add high-profile non-conference games to our schedules.”

According to the school’s release, Missouri will make the trip up to Morgantown, West Virginia on Sept. 3, 2016. The matchup will be Missouri’s season-opener. West Virginia will make the return trip to Columbia, Mo., three years later on Sept. 7, 2019.

Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch was the first to report the agreement between the two universities.
