Missouri DE Tre Williams’ suspension is over. The Tigers announced he has been reinstated as the team begins training camp.
Williams, set to enter his redshirt junior season, was suspended in December after he was arrested and charged with felony assault in an incident involving his ex-girlfriend. Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch notes that earlier this month, Williams pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of first-offense peace disturbance, a misdemeanor (the second-degree domestic assault charge was a Class C felony). Mizzou policy is for any player charged with a felony to be suspended. With the charge resolved, Williams’ suspension was lifted.
After redshirting in 2016, Williams has played in 23 games the past two seasons. He has logged 40 total tackles, including nine for loss and 5.5 sacks. Williams started six games for the Tigers in 2018, but missed the Liberty Bowl due to his suspension.
Colin O’Brien of the Jefferson City News Tribune shared MU’s release on Twitter.
