Two days after opening the season with a 34-24 win over Central Michigan, the Missouri football program received some good news on the recruiting front.

Valen Erickson, a 6-6, 280-pound offensive tackle from St. Rita High School in Chicago, announced his commitment to Tigers Monday afternoon via Twitter.

Erickson is rated by the 247Sports composite as a 3-star prospect and the No. 19 overall recruit in the state of Illinois.

He had previously committed to Nebraska in late July and was still committed before flipping to the Tigers today, marking another blow for embattled Cornhuskers coach Scott Frost.

Erickson also held offers from Tennessee, Louisville, Illinois, Purdue, and Cincinnati, among others.

Missouri will open SEC play this Saturday at Kentucky.
