Missouri has landed a verbal commitment from Cleveland (Ohio) Heights running back Marquise Davis.

The 6-foot, 210-pound back announced on Sunday he was flipping his pledge from Kentucky to Missouri, dealing another blow in a season full of them to Mark Stoops and giving Eli Drinkwitz a bit of momentum heading into the Early Signing Period. Davis is coming off an official visit to Columbia over the weekend. He had been publicly pledged to Kentucky since May.

Davis is a 4-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s the seventh-ranked prospect from the state of Ohio and the 13th-ranked running back in the Class of 2025. In the national player rankings, Davis sits at No. 179.

He was Kentucky’s highest-ranked commit and the only player who currently sits in the Composite Top 200. He becomes Missouri’s fifth such commit.

Davis played on both sides of the football for Cleveland Heights throughout his high school career — as a running back and as a hybrid safety/linebacker. As a junior, Davis was named the Gatorade Ohio Football Player of the Year after rushing for 2,405 yards and 34 touchdowns. A Mr. Football award finalist, Davis also recorded 91 tackles, 3 interceptions (1 returned for a touchdown), and 3 forced fumbles.

The Early Signing Period opens on Wednesday. Missouri is looking to close out the class on a high note. A flip from Davis is a good place to begin the week.
