Of all the days for your Twitter account to be suspended, National Signing Day is probably right at the top of the list.

That’s reality for the Tigers on Wednesday.

They woke up to see that their team’s official Twitter account has been suspended. Click on twitter.com/mizzoufootball and this is all you’ll get:

It’s interesting because Missouri isn’t the first official football account that this happened to recently. Texas’ official Twitter account was shut down and then it came back unverified with only 12,000 followers.

And no, it isn’t just a Texas Bowl thing. On Wednesday morning, USF football’s official account was also suspended.

Twitter has been trying to crack down after a recent New York Times article shed some light on how prevalent fake followers have become.

It’s unknown if that’s exactly what led to Missouri’s suspended account, but the timing of it sure seems odd.

UPDATE: Missouri’s account is back up and running, albeit with fewer followers.
