Former Razorback Mitch Petrus dies in Arkansas

Terrible news to share this Friday as multiple outlets from Arkansas are reporting that former Arkansas fullback and offensive lineman Mitch Petrus died Thursday evening. He was 32 years old.

Petrus played at Arkansas from 2006 until 2009 and went on to play in the NFL after being selected in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the New York Giants.

According to the Arkansas-Democrat Gazette, Petrus died from a heat-related illness after working outside all day Thursday. After complaining of illness, Petrus was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-North in Little Rock. The official cause of death is being listed as heat stroke.
