Mizzou agrees to big contract extension with DC Corey Batoon, per report
Missouri has agreed to a multi-year contract extension with defensive coordinator Corey Batoon, according to a report.
That’s per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who shared the news on Thursday morning. Batoon is entering his second season as Mizzou’s defensive coordinator after he was hired to replace Blake Baker following the 2023 season.
Batoon’s hiring was a bit of a risk from Eli Drinkwitz but it seems to have paid off. After Baker left for LSU, Drinkwitz decided to hire from outside the program and nabbed Batoon away from South Alabama where he worked under current Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack.

Batoon delivered adequate results as Mizzou won 10 games for a second straight season. The Tigers allowed 5.43 yards per play in 2024 — down slightly from 2023 numbers, but a good starting point considering the turnover both on the roster and in the coaching staff.
Entering 2025, Mizzou’s defense is expected to take another step forward in 2025. The Tigers rank 10th in defensive returning production per ESPN’s Bill Connelly.
As for financial terms, Batoon appears to be getting a significant raise. According to Eli Hoff, Batoon is set to earn $1.4 million in 2025 — a $400,000 increase over what his previous contract was set to pay him.
Missouri will open the 2025 season with Central Arkansas on Aug. 28.
