Missouri made a massive addition to its 2024-25 roster on Friday morning.

The Tigers earned a commitment from former Duke forward Mark Mitchell. A former 5-star prospect, Duke played a huge role for the Blue Devils in each of the past 2 seasons. He could slot in as Missouri’s starting power forward next season.

Here’s his announcement:

Mitchell’s departure from Duke was not due to a lack of playing time over the past 2 seasons. Mitchell started 67 games for the Blue Devils during his time in Durham. He averaged 11.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.7 blocks per night.

However, he likely would have played more of a bench role for Duke in 2024-25 because of the talent the Blue Devils have signed in their upcoming recruiting class. Cooper Flagg and Khaman Maluach are both front court players who are expected to be top-5 picks in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Duke’s loss and Missouri’s gain, however, and the Tigers now seem to be in position to reach the NCAA Tournament in 2025 after missing the Big Dance this past March. The Tigers are set to bring in a star-studded transfer class as well as a highly-rated group of recruits from the high school ranks.

Mizzou’s incoming class includes 4 blue-chip freshman and now 3 blue-chip transfers. Prior to Mitchell’s commitment, Missouri’s incoming class ranked 7th nationally (for high school and transfers) per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Missouri is currently +9000 to win the 2025 national championship, according to the latest odds from DraftKings.
