Mizzou picked up a commitment from the transfer portal on Saturday, adding former West Virginia offensive lineman Johnny Williams IV. Williams, a redshirt freshman, will have 3 years of eligibility remaining.

Williams announced his commitment via a post on X:

Williams, a Georgia native, was a 3-star recruit and a top 60 offensive tackle in the class of 2023 when he signed with West Virginia. He played in 5 games in 2023 and in 2024 appeared in 12 games.

On Dec. 19, 2 days after the Mountaineers’ loss in the Frisco Bowl against Memphis, he entered the transfer portal, ultimately opting to continue his college career in Columbia.

Mizzou has been active in the transfer portal, adding players such as quarterback Beau Pribula (Penn State) to a roster looking to get back in the hunt for a College Football Playoff berth. Eli Drinkwitz’s team was 9-3 but missed the 12-team field due to blowout losses to Texas A&M and Alabama before a disappointing road defeat at South Carolina. They will face Iowa in the Music City Bowl on Monday.

Williams is the 3rd offensive lineman to commit to Mizzou out of the transfer portal: former Keagan Trost (Wake Forest) and Dominic Giudice (Michigan) pledged on Dec. 20.
