Former Miami and Missouri quarterback Jake Garcia announced that he would be entering the transfer portal for a second time on Wednesday.

The former 4-star recruit out of Loganville, Ga. originally committed to Miami in 2021 and played sparingly over two seasons with the Hurricanes. Appearing in nine games, Garcia threw for 950 yards, 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions with Miami but was never able to secure consistent playing time.

He then opted to transfer to Missouri to compete for the starting job prior to the 2023 season. Incumbent starter Brady Cook ended up claiming the spot, and Garcia did not appear in a game for the Tigers.

Still, it is worth noting that Garcia has been lauded for his arm talent wherever he goes, and at 6-foot-3, 195 lbs., he has a frame that many QBs across the nation would envy. Given the right opportunity, Garcia could emerge into an NFL Draft prospect.

With three years of eligibility remaining, Garcia could start his career in 2021 and not finish it until the conclusion of the 2026 campaign.

Garcia became the second Tiger quarterback to enter the portal. Redshirt freshman Gabarri Johnson, a former 4-star recruit out of Washington, also opted to transfer.
