The Missouri Tigers were seeking an offensive lineman for the 2026 campaign. On Monday, they landed their target, who has starting experience in the SEC.
According to CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz, Mizzou has signed former Mississippi State right guard Zack Owens. The Bulldogs’ starting right guard in 2025 is taking his talents to Columbia for 2026.
Owens, a McDonough, GA native, is a rising redshirt junior. He originally committed to Clemson out of high school in 2023. He played in 2 games for those Tigers before transferring to Colorado State for the 2024 season. After appearing in 10 games with the Rams, he moved on to Starkville. Now, he’s a Tiger who has changed his stripes.
Mizzou took a slight step back from its 2023 and 2024 heights last season, finishing 8-5. They did not earn a spot in the final College Football Playoff poll of the year for the first time since 2022. The Tigers’ record has trended downward since their 11-2 mark in 2023, but head coach Eli Drinkwitz was tied to numerous high-profile coaching openings before inking an extension in late Nov. 2025.
Drinkwitz lost 26 players from his 2025 roster to the transfer portal. Owens marks the 25th transfer addition he has made in this cycle. The Tigers’ transfer class ranks 23rd in the country — 11th in the SEC — according to 247Sports.
