Missouri is nearing a deal to hire Jake Breske, the director of player personnel at Tennessee, to a “lead” front office role within the Tigers’ program, according to a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

PowerMizzou went on to report that Breske will be joining the program as the chief recruiting officer for coach Eli Drinkwitz. The position is a newly created one, but the hire marks a return to Mizzou for Breske.

In 2016, Breske worked as a recruiting assistant under then-coach Barry Odom. He became the school’s director of recruiting in 2018 and remained in that role through the transition to Drinkwitz in 2020.

Tennessee coach Josh Heupel hired Breske away from Mizzou in 2021.

During his time in Knoxville, Breske helped with recruiting classes that brought 5-stars to campus in 2023 (Nico Iamaleava), 2024 (Jordan Ross), and 2025 (David Sanders Jr.).

The Vols also signed 5-star wideout Tristen Keys and 5-star quarterback Faizon Brandon in the 2026 class earlier this month.

According to the job listing posted online, Breske’s new role with Mizzou will make him “responsible for coordinating all aspects of the recruiting process.” Responsibilities include personnel evaluation, coordinating recruiting visits, and managing NCAA compliance.
