Montez Sweat was traded to the Chicago Bears by the Washington Commanders on Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline.
Sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that the Bears gave up a second-round pick for Sweat. Sweat was having a pretty solid for the Commanders so far with 32 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks.
Chicago is looking to pad its defensive front after starting off the year at 2-6. The Bears have struggled to sack the quarterback this season with T.J. Edwards leading the team in that category with 2 so far.

Adding Sweat should definitely help with those numbers.
Sweat was drafted by Washington in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Mississippi State.
Chicago most recently lost to the L.A. Chargers on Sunday Night Football 30-13. Backup QB Tyson Bagent has had to step in for the injured Justin Fields in the last two games. Fields has been out with a dislocated thumb.
