Former Mississippi State DE Montez Sweat has opted for family over photo ops and turning down a trip to the Music City.
Sweat originally told the NFL he planned to attend next week’s NFL Draft in Nashville (an invitation extended to top prospects), but told Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen of ESPN that he has had a change of heart and will instead be watching from home.
“My devoted grandparents and a host of other family members helped me to get to this point in my life and I wanted to celebrate this special day with my family so we all chose to do so where it all started for me, Stone Mountain, Ga.,” he told ESPN.
Schefter’s tweets, below, note that some teams are unsure about Sweat after a heart condition was uncovered at the NFL Scouting Combine. It wasn’t the only “draft stock” headline Sweat made in Indianapolis, he also logged the fastest 40-yard dash ever for a defensive lineman (4.41 seconds).
