Good news Georgia fans, the team’s leading tackler plans on returning for his senior season in Athens as Rice announced the news Wednesday morning.
Rice racked up 89 tackles last season to give him 170 career tackles during his three seasons playing for Georgia.
You could easily make the case for Georgia having the SEC’s best defense in 2019 and with Rice announcing his return, along with defensive standouts Richard LeCounte, Malik Herring and Eric Stokes, it would be no surprise to see Kirby Smart’s unit hold that title next fall, too.
Georgia’s defense is scheduled to return mostly intact next fall as only J.R. Reed, Tyler Clark, Tae Crowder and David Marshall are some of the seniors that will be lost this offseason on the defensive side of the ball for the Bulldogs.
With Crowder off to the NFL, Rice will now be expected to lead Georgia’s linebacking corps next season along with rising sophomore Azeez Ojulari.
