Garcia’s Moose of the Week: Florida’s RB duo

This is a very difficult award to give out simply because the SEC is filled with a bunch of moose (mooses?).

I am giving the moose of the week award to a two-headed monster that we’ve been waiting to see: Florida running back duo Kelvin Taylor and Matt Jones. With everyone counting out the Gators, myself included (see my lock of the week last week), it was one of the best running game performances we’ve seen in a while.

Georgia has been playing amazing lately, especially on the defensive side of the ball. I didn’t think there was any chance in hell that the Gators would upset them, let alone destroy the Bulldogs.

Let’s get into the stats that these guys put up. Taylor had 25 carries for 197 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jones had another 25 carries and added 192 yards along with 2 touchdowns.

As the Gators camp stated in the beginning of the week, Florida was going to run the ball come hell or high water. Treon Harris made his first career start and threw six passes all game. SIX. The Gators had 60 rushing attempts against Georgia and ran for 418 yards, an average of 7 yards per carry.

There’s no doubt there are tons of players that can get this moose of the week award, but this week has to go to these two guys. They shocked the college football world and may, just may, have saved their head coach’s job.
