Mississippi State is a team on the rise following Saturday night’s big win.
The Bulldogs took down No. 12 LSU by a score of 37-7 Saturday night to vault into the AP Poll at No. 17. The victory has put MSU on everybody’s radar, and the Bulldogs now have the second-best chance to win the SEC.
MSU dominated the Tigers on both sides of the ball in the win with QB Nick Fitzgerald leading the offense. Fitzgerald finished the game with 268 yards of total offense and 4 TDs while the game plan put in place by head coach Dan Mullen worked to perfection. The Tigers were limited to 270 yards of total offense and just one touchdown Saturday.
Both Mullen and Fitzgerald put on a show, and both were honored with national awards on Tuesday. Mullen was named Coach of the Week by The Dodd Trophy, and Fitzgerald was named the Davey O’Brien Quarterback of the Week.
The announcements were shared on Twitter Tuesday:
