The Southeastern Conference might have gotten shut out of the College Football Playoff championship game for a second straight season, but several SEC players were included on ESPN’s list of the top 100 college football players for 2025.
The Alabama Crimson Tide placed two players on ESPN’s list following an 11-4 campaign that included a CFP berth but resulted in a one-sided whipping by eventual national champion Indiana in the Rose Bowl.
Tide junior safety Bray Hubbard was ranked No. 73 on ESPN’s list. Hubbard recorded 80 total tackles, four interceptions and six pass-breakups. Hubbard, who took over as a starter midway through the 2024 season, announced earlier in January that he will return to Tuscaloosa for his senior season instead of entering the NFL Draft.

Alabama junior quarterback Ty Simpson checked in at No. 47 following a season that saw him garner midseason Heisman Trophy consideration and finish with 3,567 passing yards with 28 touchdowns. Simpson declared he would forgo his senior season in Tuscaloosa and enter the NFL Draft – and also turned down potentially lucrative offers to transfer away from Alabama for his senior season.
Alabama opens the 2026 season at home Sept. 5 against East Carolina and plays its first SEC game of the season at Kentucky on Sept. 12.
