With the firing of LSU head coach Brian Kelly being announced on Sunday, multiple analysts are reportedly stepping into bigger roles to help fill the gaps.

It was announced Sunday night that Brian Kelly would no longer be the head coach of the LSU Tigers moving forward, bringing his tenure at LSU to an end before his fourth season concluded.

Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan was on Monday morning. Alex Atkins will now take over as the OC and will still be coaching the tight end group.

In the wake of this news, many LSU staffers have moved into new roles. LSU has already announced tight ends coach Alex Atkins will take over as offensive play-caller for Sloan.

According to Wilson Alexander, analyst Tim Rattay has taken over as the QB coach. In addition to being the OC, Sloan also coached quarterbacks prior to his dismissal.

Frank Wilson, who was previously the running backs coach, has been named as the interim head coach. Per Alexander, analyst Cordae Hankton will step up to work with the running backs on game day to help free up Wilson in his interim head coach role.

Additionally, Alexander reports that co-offensive coordinator and passing game coordinator Cortez Hankton will remain in his current role.

The LSU coaching staff will look a lot different than it did against Texas A&M the next time they take the field. It will be a makeshift staff until LSU has time to put a staff in place ahead of the 2026 season.

LSU has 4 games left on its 2025 schedule and will look to finish the season strong.
