With Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott’s future up in the air, ESPN announcer Brent Musburger dropped a bombshell on ESPN’s broadcast of the Orange Bowl. Shortly before kickoff, Musburger casually mentioned that Prescott plans to return to Mississippi State for his senior season.

Prescott, who spurred the Bulldogs to their best regular season in school history, was a Heisman candidate for much of the season and a finalist for multiple major awards. His production did fall off toward the end of the season, as Mississippi State lost two of three games to end the regular season.

Prescott finished the regular season with 2,996 passing yards and 24 touchdowns as well as 939 rushing yards and another 13 touchdowns. Mississippi State finished the regular season with 10 wins for the first time and had its highest-ever final regular season ranking, finishing No. 7.

Over the course of the season, Prescott spoke openly about his NFL future. He has said that if he thought he would be drafted in the first three rounds of the 2015 NFL draft. Prescott applied for a draft grade from the NFL Draft Advisory Board, and apparently did not receive a favorable grade. The board only gives out three types of grades: “first round,” “second round,” or “remain in school.”

Prescott has not made an official announcement on his future.

Earlier on Wednesday, Mississippi State running back Josh Robinson announced via Instagram that he would be leaving school early for the NFL. Robinson was one of three Mississippi State players to apply for a draft grade; the third was Benardrick McKinney, who has not yet announced his decision.
