Must-win situation: ESPN’s BPI says Alabama has virtually no chance to earn NCAA bid with loss to Texas A&M
Now this is a wild swing of probability.
Alabama and Texas A&M open Day 2 of the 2018 SEC Tournament on Thursday from St. Louis with both teams needing a win to boost their NCAA Tournament resumes. However, despite how badly the Aggies may feel they need to win, it appears the Crimson Tide’s NCAA lives are at stake in the game.
According to ESPN’s Basketball Power Index, Alabama has a 99.7 percent chance to get into the NCAA Tournament with a win Thursday. On the flip side, if the Crimson Tide lose the game, Alabama has a 0.5 percent of getting into the NCAA Tournament. Alabama enters the game with a 43 percent chance of making the NCAA Tournament according to ESPN’s BPI.
The two teams split the regular season series as Alabama beat Texas A&M 79-57 on Dec. 31, while Texas A&M beat Alabama 68-66 last week.
