Building on back-to-back in-state heavy recruiting classes, Mark Stoops is hoping to secure decisions from several Bluegrass playmakers this 2015 cycle including one of the nation’s top running backs in Damien Harris.

Here’s a review of Kentucky’s strengths heading into bowl week after the holiday and a few predictions on where the Wildcats could end up in February. We use 247Sports’ team rankings and individual composite player lists to determine grades:

Current standing

  • National recruiting rank: 29th
  • SEC recruiting rank: 11th
  • Number of commits or signees: 17

Signed, sealed, delivered

  • None

Notable hard commits

  • C.J. Conrad, TE, LaGrange, Ohio (Four-star)
  • David Dowell, S, Lakewood, Ohio (Four-star)
  • Eli Brown, LB, Bowling Green, Ky. (Four-star)

Remaining primary targets

  • Damien Harris, RB, Berea, Ky. (Five-star)

Signing Day surprise

  • Thought to be a Kentucky lean, five-star running back Damien Harris will likely fall to Ohio State this recruiting cycle, the Buckeyes’ first win over the Wildcats for a prospect in several seasons. Current defensive back A.J. Stamps is another player Ohio State recruited but ultimately lost to the Wildcats.
