Until now, it was thought that 5-star prospect Justin Fields had three main schools most involved in his recruitment.
But along with Auburn, Georgia and Florida State, Fields reportedly has said that he hears most from the LSU coaching staff, according to a national recruiting coordinator for ESPN.
Fields is a dual-threat quarterback and the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2018. He’s from Kennesaw, Ga.
His father previously explained the appeal to Auburn and Georgia.
“A lot of times, the way a school ranks nationally does not necessarily mean the thing he wants to major in that they rank badly in that,” the father said. “For instance, Auburn has this entrepreneur major that he really, really likes.”
That could be good news for Tiger fans, but he’s also got family ties with the Dawgs.
“Georgia is great,” Ivant said. “They are here. Of course, my wife would love for the kids to be together. My daughter is already committed there for softball. Having them at one school would be pretty easy on the family. That is not the ultimate decision maker, but it would be convenient.”
It is not clear how the injuries on Saturday to quarterbacks Deondre Francois at Florida State and Jacob Eason at Georgia will factor into Fields’ decision.
Don't often hear them w/ schools in mix for No. 1 QB Justin Fields but when asked what school hears from most-he said #LSU coaching staff
