Navy OC Ivin Jasper’s son, Jarren, has new heart after successful transplant

One of the saddest stories of the 2017 college football season came from Navy, where offensive coordinator Ivin Jasper’s son, Jarren, was fighting to hold on until he could get a heart transplant.

Fortunately, the Jasper family’s story has a happy ending for now, as Jarren underwent a heart transplant surgery on Tuesday morning, according to the Washington Post.

Ivin Jasper sent a text to the Washington Post following the surgery, expressing his joy with his son getting another chance at life:

“I’m overwhelmed with joy. This has been a difficult time for me and my family but the Lord has delivered the miracle we’ve been waiting for and it’s a true blessing,” Ivin Jasper said.

Jasper was a popular presence around the Navy squad this year, as the players and coaches rallied around him. Here’s hoping Jarren makes a full and quick recovery and is back on his feet as soon as possible.
