NCAA allows Clemson to exceed 20-hour practice limit to curtail Alabama’s edge
Alabama has been enjoying unlimited practices while Clemson has been restricted to the 20-hour weekly practice rule as the teams get set to play for the national championship on Monday.
However, the NCAA is giving Clemson the opportunity to exceed that limit this week in hopes of evening the playing field in that regard, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.
NCAA grants waiver allowing Clemson to exceed 20-hour weekly practice rule this week. Alabama already has unlimited practices

Earlier this week, McMurphy brought a loophole to light that allows the Crimson Tide to practice as much as it wants due to the fact that the school’s spring semester doesn’t start until this Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Tigers’ spring semester began a week earlier (yesterday), meaning that Clemson had to comply with the 20-hour limit that the NCAA places on practicing athletics while academic classes are in session.
Somewhere out there, Oregon coach Mark Helfrich isn’t happy.
Last season, the same situation presented itself before the national championship game and Ohio State had the same edge on Oregon, and the Buckeyes took home the title.
