Mizzou could be getting some help on defense. Tigers linebacker Chuck Hicks announced Friday that he has been declared eligible by the NCAA after his transfer from Wyoming.

Hicks shared the big news on Twitter.

Hicks announced his departure from Wyoming on Aug. 23 and then committed to MU days later. Hicks in the fourth year of his college football career. He redshirted in 2018, contributed on special teams and as a reserve linebacker for the Cowboys in 2019 and then started 5 games in 2020. In 17 games with Wyoming, Hicks logged 31 total tackles, 2 sacks, and an interception. Nick Kuzma of Wyoming News Now notes that Hicks was the team’s starting Will linebacker on a June depth chart.

Mizzou hosts North Texas on Saturday for MU’s homecoming. We’ll see if Hicks gets in the game or if he needs more time to get game-ready after being ineligible for the Tigers’ first 5 games.
