New Auburn football broadcaster shares what’s special to him about ‘Voice of the Tigers’ role

For Andy Burcham, the best part about being the new “Voice of the Tigers” isn’t only the responsibilities that come with the role. It’s the identity that he’ll now carry with him.
On Monday, it was announced that Burcham would take over calling football, men’s basketball and baseball games for the Tigers, effective immediately. Rod Bramblett, who died in a car accident earlier this year, previously held the job.
“It’s not just representing the Auburn football team or the basketball team or the baseball team, you’re representing Auburn,” Burcham told SiriusXM’s Mark Packer on Monday. “You’re representing the orange and blue. And it’s something that I will never forget. It’s not just athletics, it’s Tigers Unlimited on this campus and this administration and the faculty and the student body and those alumni that are out there.
“You’re representing Auburn, and again, it’s something that I will never forget and really haven’t forgotten since I started broadcasting here at Auburn 31 years ago.”

Burcham has held various roles as part of Auburn’s radio broadcasts for the past three decades. So, he’s already familiar with the Tigers and is sure to bring knowledge and experience to the job.
It won’t be long before Burcham makes his debut as the new football broadcaster. Auburn opens the season with a matchup against Oregon at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on Aug. 31.
