Turner’s comment “I promise, recruiting time is never out of season!!!” was seen by many as a shot at Dan Mullen.
During Mullen’s Nov. 1 press conference, the Monday following Florida’s loss to Georgia, David Waters tried to ask the coach a recruiting question.
“We’re in the season now,” Mullen responded to Waters’ question. “We’ll do recruiting after the season – when it gets to recruiting time we can talk about recruiting.”
While some, including Waters, have said Mullen’s answer was misinterpreted and taken out of context, the quote went viral as it was shared on social media. That led to Mullen being crushed by fans and media members for his staff’s lackluster recruiting at Florida. Waters was among those who noticed Turner’s “season” comment Thursday.
I asked a simple question about recruiting a couple of months ago and now here we are ? https://t.co/eUfq7oOezu
