High school football is back, despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The state of Texas hosted multiple high school scrimmages Thursday night, and fans are rejoicing that football has finally returned, giving them a sense of normalcy.
Instead of running from the pandemic, it’s time we learn how to live in the midst of a pandemic. Although the two teams just played a full game of tackle football, the postgame handshake rules make teams stand away from each other and merely wave and say, “Good game.” It’s an odd sight.
Texas high school football reporter Robby Chavez captured the postgame moment between Devine High School and Gonzales High School Thursday night. It’s a new reality for 2020.
This was such a strange sight! No shaking hands at the end just waves and shouts of good game! #COVID19 #Texas #txhsfb @TXHS_Football @STFUnltd pic.twitter.com/9v1GIbEuSG
