A long-standing tradition was partially repaired Saturday at Auburn University after two 35-foot tall oak trees were planted at Toomer’s Corner, the site of joyous postgame celebrations for over 50 years at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and College Street downtown.

Healing can now begin from the nightmare left in the wake of Harvey Updyke’s tree poisoning following the 2010 Iron Bowl. The poisoned oaks, not salvageable, were removed from their site in April 2013 and replaced today with hand-picked, healthy trees from a grove in South Carolina.
