Mississippi State opens spring practice on Wednesday, and the big news out of Bulldogs camp was that star WR Fred Ross will miss the spring due to surgery.

Dan Mullen addressed the media following his team’s first practice:

Junior Damian Williams worked with the first team as the Bulldogs begin life without Dak Prescott.

Current players were accompanied by many former players who donned the maroon and white. Of course, one of them needs no introduction, but we’ll do it anyways. Former quarterback Dak Prescott was there, but he wasn’t alone.

Defensive end Ryan Brown was also there. Also, head coach Dan Mullen was seen with former receiver De’Runnya Wilson near the beginning of the practice.

Speaking of Wilson, we know who’s taking over his No. 1 jersey, and that’s sophomore safety Brandon Bryant.

One current receiver wasn’t there, and that’s Fred Ross.

Keeping with the receivers, co-offensive coordinator/passing game/receivers coach Billy Gonzales had a unique drill for his unit on Wednesday.
