Inclement weather forced the teams to move both of Wednesday’s practices for the Reese’s Senior Bowl to the afternoon. The North practiced from noon to 2 p.m. CT with the South practicing from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT

With the weather cool, chilly and rainy, players as well as spectators did their best to stay warm.  A few players were cited as standouts. Here’s what a few folks on hand in Birmingham had to say about the session when they weren’t busy trying to stay warm and dry.

NEWS AND NOTES

Alabama LB Reggie Ragland has moved to an outside position in workouts to show his versatility and increase his value. His goal is to prove he can play on third down. Ragland has been impressive each day in practice.

Alabama DL Jarran Reed was a standout in Wednesday’s drills, according to Rob Rang of cbssports.com and Georgia OL John Theus had to be separated from Eastern Kentucky defender Noah Spencer, a former five-star recruit dismissed at Ohio State for failing drug tests.

The New York Giants met with Reed, who is projected to go in the first round. The Giants pick No. 10 in the first round.

LSU teammates LB Deion Jones and DB Jalen Mills played together during Wednesday drills. According to Ross Dellenger of the Baton Rouge Advocate, Jones, has been a standout. On Wednesday, he stripped Arkansas’ Brandon Allen of the football during the workout.

Missouri OL Connor McGovern and Florida TE Jake McGee are out for the week with injuries. McGee had missed the Citrus Bowl with a leg injury. McGovern left practice Monday with a hamstring injury and did not return.

Chase Goodbread of 247 Sports lists a few players to watch from small schools this week.

Thursday practices are scheduled for 9:30-11:30 p.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. CT.

Braxton Miller, the former Ohio State quarterback who moved to receiver this season, has received rave reviews for this performance and work ethic this week.
