Martez Ivey has just landed another shot in the NFL.

The former five-star recruit went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft but was picked up by the New England Patriots as a free agent that summer.

After failing to make the Patriots roster, Ivey signed with the Tampa Bay Vipers of the XFL for the league’s only season. As tough as last season was for many NFL players, it was nearly impossible for players like Ivey to catch on with a team without a regular training camp or preseason to impress coaches.

Now Ivey will get that shot in Carolina as the Panthers have announced the signing of the former Gator lineman. Ivey’s deal in Carolina is for one year.

Considering his age, 25, and the fact the Panthers just traded for quarterback Sam Darnold, there’s a shot Ivey has a place in Carolina as the team will be looking to invest in young linemen that can protect the new face of the franchise in 2021.
