The Carolina Panthers have just traded away their starting quarterback the day before the start of the 2021 NFL Draft arrives.
Teddy Bridgewater is no longer a Panther as the quarterback has been traded away to the Denver Broncos as first reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Media. In exchange for Bridgewater, the Panthers will receive a sixth-round draft pick from the Broncos.
Carolina has confirmed the news of the trade.
Based on that exchange, the going rate for Bridgewater must have been low after Carolina acquired Sam Darnold from the New York Jets via an offseason trade. The Panthers had to give up a second-round pick and a fourth-round pick (both in the 2022 draft) and a sixth-round pick (in the 2021 draft) to land Darnold.
Last season, Bridgewater started all 15 games he appeared in for the Panthers. During that time, he completed 69.1 percent of his passes for 3,733 yards with 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Carolina currently owns the No. 8 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft while the Broncos own the No. 9 overall pick.
