Browns rookie Grant Delpit injured at practice, had to be carted off practice field
Some very unfortunate news to share from Cleveland as rookie defensive back Grant Delpit had to be carted off the field at Browns practice on Monday according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.
The Browns selected Delpit in the second round, with the No. 44 overall pick, in the 2020 NFL Draft. The former LSU standout won the Thorpe Award winner last fall.
The rookie was slated to compete for a starting role in Cleveland’s defense this season but that may not happen now as Delpit had to be carted off the practice field on Monday.
“Browns’ rookie S Grant Delpit was carted off the field during today’s practice,” Schefter reported on Monday.
Additionally, Schefter is reporting that the rookie may have suffered a serious injury that could put his season in jeopardy.
“Browns are concerned that rookie S Grant Delpit suffered an Achilles injury and he’s undergoing testing now,” Schefter added.
During his time in Baton Rouge, Delpit racked up 199 tackles, seven sacks, eight interceptions, defended 24 passes while forcing, and recovering, two fumbles for the Tigers.
