Coming off an outstanding rookie NFL season, Mack Wilson was poised to be one of the standout defenders on Cleveland’s roster in 2020 but that may not be the reality for the second-year player from Alabama.
A day after knocking Nick Chubb out of action with a practice horsecollar tackle, Wilson was demoted to the second-team defense for Tuesday’s practice but during his time working with the backups, the linebacker suffered a leg injury and had to be taken off the field.
Eventually, Wilson was carted off the field with his head in his hands according to Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
During his first season with the Browns, Wilson racked up 82 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and four tackles for loss. He made 14 starts after being selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
In his three seasons playing for Alabama, Wilson had 113 tackles, six interceptions, and one sack.
