This year, the SEC has a couple of very intriguing running back prospects, including LSU’s Derrius Guice and Georgia’s Sony Michel.

However, Penn State RB Saquon Barkley is the unquestioned No. 1 player at his position this year, and may end up being the top pick of the NFL Draft.

On Monday, NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah ranked the top-10 running back prospects of the last three years, and the SEC had five players on the list. The rest of the rankings, which include Barkley at No. 1, can be found here, but the five SEC players to make the cut were:

  • No. 2 — Leonard Fournette, LSU
  • No. 6 — Alvin Kamara, Tennessee
  • No. 7 — Derrius Guice, LSU
  • No. 9 — Sony Michel, Georgia
  • No. 10 — Derrick Henry, Alabama

Guice could sneak into the latter part of the first round this year, but Michel will likely be a day two pick. Still, it’s been a great run for the SEC.

With athletes like Mizzou’s Damarea Crockett, Georgia’s D’Andre Swift, Alabama’s Damien Harris and others, the SEC’s production of top backs will surely continue in the coming years.
