NFL analyst ranks Mac Jones, Kellen Mond in his top 4 QBs leading up to the upcoming draft
Chris Simms just shared the most interesting piece of pre-draft content we’ve seen so far this offseason.
The former professional quarterback and NFL analyst for NBC Sports has released his list of the best quarterback prospects leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft and not only does he not have Trevor Lawrence at the top, but he’s also got Mac Jones and Kellen Mond in the top four.
Here are Simms’ quarterback rankings for the 2021 NFL Draft:
#1 Zach Wilson – BYU
#2 Trevor Lawrence – Clemson
#3 Mac Jones – Alabama
#4 Kellen Mond – Texas A&M
#5 Justin Fields – Ohio State
#6 Trey Lance – North Dakota State
Right on cue, some are calling out Simms for a click-bait list but the NBC analyst has been quick to point out his projections on quarterbacks have gone against the grain previously and proven to be accurate.
Those takes include rating Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson as the best quarterback prospect in the 2018 class, being high on Justin Herbert in the 2020 class and being low on Sam Darnold. Of course, no one hits on all their projections, and that was the case with Simms being very high on Daniel Jones leading up to the 2019 NFL Draft.
So the question is, will Wilson and Mond turn out to be hits or misses by Simms?
