With NFL coaching vacancies filled, all players having made their draft decisions and the playoffs inching toward the Super Bowl, mock drafts are starting to take shape.
NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah, a former scout for three teams, sees the SEC dominating the top 10 of the 2019 NFL Draft. In his latest mock, the top 10 will be split 6-4 SEC and Big Ten.
Here’ his latest mock top 10:
- Arizona Cardinals – Nick Bosa (Ohio State)
- San Francisco 49ers – Rashan Gary (Michigan)
- New York Jets – Josh Allen (Kentucky)
- Oakland Raiders – Quinnen Williams (Alabama)
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Josh Jacobs (Alabama)
- New York Giants – Dwayne Haskins (Ohio State)
- Jacksonville Jaguars – Jeffery Simmons (Mississippi State)
- Detroit Lions – T.J. Hockenson (Iowa)
- Buffalo Bills – Jawaan Taylor (Florida)
- Denver Broncos – Devin White (LSU)
A strong SEC presence in the first round of the NFL Draft has come to be expected by fans and haters of the conference alike. If this is how it plays out this spring, however, there will be some big storylines. It has been over a decade since Kentucky had the first player drafted from the SEC (2003, Dewayne Robertson). Also surprising is the projection of Josh Jacobs at No. 5 overall considering he was third on his own team this year in rushing yards (640) and second in carries (117).
