Oklahoma State made national news last week when the school announced that it was firing legendary coach Mike Gundy.
Many people were upset with the decision, thinking that he had earned the right to finish the season on his own terms and then retire after spending more than 2 decades with the program. Offensive coordinator Doug Meachem is the interim coach, but the school is expected to look outside of the program to hire the next coach.
One name that is continuing to be talked about is Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson, who played and starred for Gundy as a quarterback for the Cowboys.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting Robinson is expected to be on the “very shortlist” for the Oklahoma State job.
He was the quarterback at Oklahoma State from 2006-2009, where he threw for 8,317 yards, 66 touchdowns and 31 interceptions. He was also a threat when it came to running the ball, as he added another 1,858 yards and 22 more scores.
Robinson is an obvious choice for the job with his ties to the school, but he is also quickly becoming a popular name among the NFL, and could be in line for a head job there in the next couple of seasons.
