J.C. Hassenauer will be sticking around in Pittsburgh.

After agreeing to terms on a new deal with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers wisely locked up Hassenauer to a new deal in Pittsburgh this week.

News of Hassenauer’s extension with the team was first reported by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Hassenauer’s value in Pittsburgh increased this offseason following the retirement of longtime offensive lineman, Maurkice Pouncey. With Pouncey hanging up his cleats in Pittsburgh, Hassenauer could slide into the starting lineup on a permanent basis for the Steelers.

Hassenauer made 15 appearances last season for the Steelers, including four starts. Those four starts all occurred during the final six games of the season.

The offensive lineman made his way to Pittsburgh as a free agent late in the 2019 season. He played for Alabama from 2014-2017.
