NFL teams reportedly willing to buy out Kliff Kingsbury’s USC contract as part of head coaching offer

For NFL teams looking to ride the wave of offensive creativity suddenly taking over the league, Kliff Kingsbury looked like a prime coaching candidate.
That apparently hasn’t changed despite Kingsbury’s agreement to become USC’s offensive coordinator.
Jay Glazer said during a segment on “Fox NFL Sunday” that some teams are considering buying out Kingsbury’s USC contract to make him their new head coach. It would be a massive financial risk to couple a buyout with an NFL salary, but it’s one desperate teams may be fine with if it means they can keep up with the league’s offensive revolution.

The first teams that come to mind are the Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns, which boast quarterback talent and fired their coaches midseason. Then there are other clubs like the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers that could look to make a coaching change down the stretch.
Kingsbury has been strongly linked to the NFL since his firing at Texas Tech last month, and now it seems that pro teams are willing to give up a lot for his services.
