Will Urban Meyer ever coach again? Dan Mullen says it wouldn’t surprise him to see his old boss return to the sideline
After Texas failed to land Urban Meyer, many assumed the speculation regarding the former Ohio State and Florida coach would end for this coaching cycle.
Then the rumor mill started back up again after ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter dropped the nugget that multiple NFL teams are interested in potentially hiring Meyer.
Now even Dan Mullen is being asked about Meyer’s future, as the two coaches have a long history of working together dating all the way back to their days at Bowling Green, Utah and Florida.
During the latest Cotton Bowl press conference on Tuesday, Mullen was asked to weigh in on the speculation that Meyer could get back into coaching.
“I haven’t seen any of that, I’ve spoken with him,” Mullen said. “He’s very happy with where he is in his life and his family and all that. But knowing him, and the competitor that he is, it would never surprise me to see him on the sideline enjoying coaching the game of football.
“I haven’t seen anything about it and haven’t spoken to him about that but one of these days, you may see him back on the sidelines.”
One thing is for sure, those comments certainly aren’t going to halt all the speculation.
