Nic Scourton joined Texas A&M in 2024 after 2 seasons at Purdue, and after logging 5.0 sacks and an impressive 14 tackles for a loss — his second straight season with double-digit TFLs — the defensive lineman has a decision to make ahead of the Aggies’ appearance in the Las Vegas Bowl against USC on Dec. 27.

And it sounds as if that decision has been made. Scourton will opt out of the game to prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft, according to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

Scourton, a Bryan, Tex. product, is a former 4-star recruit who was considered the No. 22 defensive lineman in the class of 2022 when he signed with Purdue. He appeared in every game with the Boilermakers as a true freshman, posting 22 tackles and 2.0 sacks. As a sophomore, he totaled 50 tackles and 15 TFLs, including 10.0 sacks, en route to second-team All-Big Ten honors.

He then entered the transfer portal, returning home to join the Aggies. He was named first-team All-SEC after an outstanding junior season.

Now, it looks as if his time with the Aggies has ended as he prepares for a professional career. Scourton is widely projected as a mid-1st-round pick in the spring.
