Not even Nick Saban could find fault with the way his Alabama team was performing in the first half against Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday as the Crimson Tide are up 49-0 at the halfway point in the game.

Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts both have touchdowns in the game and the Crimson Tide came out ready to play from the opening snap of the contest, despite entering the game as an astounding 49-point favorite in the game.

Here’s what Saban had to say about his team’s performance as he walked into the locker room for halftime.

“Well, I’m glad the way we came out and played today. I’m really proud of our players,” Saban said. “We are trying to create an identity for our team, we want to play with more consistency, more discipline and I think we did that for the most part in the first half.”

Here are his comments on Alabama’s running game, which he noted last week, needed to improve.

“We’ve actually tried to run the ball a bit more in this game — direct runs,” Saban continued. “We still gotta finish blocks better but there’s some improvement.”

Turns out, all it takes to get a positive response out of Saban was for his team to jump out to a 49-point lead.
