Nick Saban admits he ‘considered’ pulling Jalen Milroe, explains why he did not

Nick Saban considered pulling Jalen Milroe in the middle of Alabama’s 34-24 loss to Texas Saturday night.
The Crimson Tide’s loss was a shocking one. The Longhorns became one of just 7 teams to beat the Crimson Tide at Bryant-Denny with Saban at the helm of the program.
And Milroe was shaky against a strong Longhorns secondary. He completed 14 of his 27 passing attempts for 255 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
When asked if he considered playing multiple quarterbacks, Saban simply said “I did.” He later clarified that a change in QB was not officially discussed, but that he was considering it.
He also explained that Milroe’s confidence after a touchdown drive to make it 16-13 was a big reason he kept him in the game:
“When he put the drive together to go down the field and score, when we got ahead, I thought that gave him a lot of confidence,” Saban continued. “But we never, ever discussed it — I can’t sit here and say the thought doesn’t come to mind, for any player who is having a difficult time. But he made some good plays at the end of the game, and that was good to see.”
