Nick Saban comments on Alabama’s outstanding defensive effort in the first half against LSU
Alabama has completely controlled the first half from Baton Rouge and is up on LSU 16-0 heading into the break thanks to some impressive defense by the Crimson Tide.
This game has seen some firsts for the Crimson Tide, as Alabama did not score a touchdown on the opening possession of the game and Tua Tagovailoa threw an interception — both of which had not occurred this season until this contest. Tagovailoa has completed 19 of 29 passes for 208 yards and two scores.
While Alabama’s offense hasn’t had their best showing, Nick Saban’s defense has been outstanding to this point. The Tigers have only 67 total yards and have minus-one rushing yard in the first half. Joe Burrow has been held to 68 yards passing with only seven completions on 15 attempts.
Before heading into the locker room for halftime, Saban offered up his thoughts on the play of his defense in the first half to CBS sideline reporter Jamie Erdahl.
“Well, I think our defense has done a good job, mixing things up. We made some adjustments since the beginning of the game,” Saban said. “We’ve got to keep playing though, they have a lot of explosive players.”
