Nick Saban announced Monday that Alabama DB Tony Mitchell is suspended following the freshman’s recent arrest in Florida for drug possession.
Holmes County Sherrif’s Office announced the arrest of Mitchell and his passenger in a March 16 post on Facebook. Mitchell is facing a charge of possession of marijuana with the intent to sell and/or deliver, per the post, which includes a photo of a bag of marijuana and bundles of cash.
Saban told reporters Monday that Mitchell is suspended from the team and all team activities while UA gathers more information about the situation.
Tony Mitchell has been suspended from the team until Alabama gathers more information about the situation. “Everybody’s got an opportunity to make choices and decisions. There’s no such thing as being in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
