The No. 14 Missouri Tigers are entering their pivotal Week 7 matchups against the No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide undefeated, and their elite run game has been the primary driver of their early success.

Led by an elite offensive line and the legs of star running back Ahmad Hardy, Mizzou has made its name this year by pounding the rock on the ground with impunity in smash-mouth fashion.

Now, they’ll be testing this throwback offense against one of the better fronts in the nation against the Tide, and legendary former Alabama head coach Nick Saban broke down what makes the Tigers’ run game so deadly this morning on College GameDay.

“They’re one of the best running teams in the country,” Saban said. “They use a lot of motion.. Hardy is one of the most difficult guys in the country to tackle. He breaks a lot of tackles… They are the most effective running team in the country, in my opinion. They do a great job of executing.”

Saban also broke down how great Missouri’s offensive line is in the run blocking game and went into detail on how it utilizes inside and outside zone running concepts to keep defenses honest.

There’s no denying that the Tigers have an elite ground game, and Saban’s glowing praise serves as further proof. If the Tigers can roll over the Tide this afternoon, then they could be on the verge of a very special season in Columbia.
