Nick Saban briefly previews early-season matchup against Texas

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide escaped Texas in Austin by the skin of their teeth last season.
The Longhorns under Steve Sarkisian came within just a point of knocking off the Tide and very likely would have been able to finish the job had Quinn Ewers not gone down with an injury around halftime.
But let’s give the Tide credit. They withheld a strong Longhorns squad regardless. A good team wins, no matter what.
This year, Texas is slated to be even tougher and the same principle applies. At SEC Media Days Wednesday, Saban briefly previewed the Tide’s upcoming matchup in Tuscaloosa on Sept 9.
Saban on Texas: “It’s gonna be a real challenging game, no doubt, because they have a lot of starters coming back and a lot of experience coming back and an experienced quarterback. We expect them to have an outstanding team.”

Really, the Longhorns’ success starts with Ewers, who will look to finish what he started last year against Alabama.
A lot of eyes are on the Lone Star State. The Longhorns are expected to field one of their best teams in recent memory this season. 10 starters return on offense alongside 6 starters on defense from a team that finished 8-5 in a tough Big 12 last season.
Alabama returns a lot too, especially on defense. The home crowd obviously helps the Tide, but we could be in for a good one come September.
